Attendance at Horton Lodge.

We believe that children cannot learn if they are absent from school. Therefore, we aim to ensure that all our children take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them and to raise standards by promoting regular attendance and punctuality of pupils.  However, we recognise that many of the pupils at Horton Lodge School experience ill health and also have a range of medical appointments.

Holidays During Term Time

The DfE recently made it clear that headteacher's may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Written requests will be considered from parents by the Executive Headteacher & the Chair of the Governing Body.

Religious Observance

A maximum of two days absence per academic year is allowed for religious observance.

Medical, Dental or Hospital Appointments

The school recognises that some pupils have a high medical need and their absence percentage will be higher due to increased illness/medical appointments. The school nurse will keep Senior Leadership Team fully informed of all pupils' medical conditions/needs.
